May Is Michigan Wine Month
May has been declared Michigan Wine Month giving proper attention to an industry that is cherished by many throughout the state and provides great enjoyment for many visitors every year. May is a month when the temperatures begin to warm, the fruit trees and vines begin to wake up and progress for the new harvest, and all of the local produce slowly begins to appear in the local groceries stores and roadside stands. It is a true sign that winter is behind us and summer will soon arrive.
If you are like many people who are excited about getting out and exploring and looking for a safe way to enjoy some Michigan wine, purchase a ticket for the Rose All May event happening on the Leelanau Peninsula. It is a way to leisurely enjoy an abundance of new release Rose wines at many participating Leelanau wineries. Tickets are $35 and allow you to taste a 3 oz sample of a new Rose wine at all of the participating wineries through the month of May, and while you're there, you may as well taste some of the other delicious wines from the 2020 vintage!
Not a fan of Rose, but looking for another way to try some new wineries and take advantage of some great specials? Download the digital TC Uncorked Passport to unlock some Michigan Wine Month specials at participating wineries! There are over 40 participating wineries that are offering a variety of specials from free or discounted tasting, specials on wine and merchandise, and more
In order to redeem the specials, you will have to check in at each winery and then redeem the special through the app. Check in at 5 or more wineries and you can pick up one of the TC Uncorked TShirts at the TC Tourism Visitor Center at 101 W. Grandview Parkway in Traverse City. May is a great time to visit before the summer crowds arrive. Visiting in May provides more time to talk to the winery staff and enjoy the wines as a calmer more leisurely pace. Cheers to Michigan Wine Month and all of the people who work so hard to grow and produce the wines and equally to those of you who choose to support them!
